Our History
Shibusa Systems began its journey in 2019 in pursuit of a better solution for creating high-performance healthy homes faster and more affordably for the Missing Middle - people who sustain our communities but most often can’t afford to live within them such as educators, first responders, construction workers, hospitality workers, social workers, nonprofits, and many more. We saw the many limitations of “Factory Built Housing” and 3D printed homes such as capacity constraints, high cost, and large carbon footprints making these solutions unsustainable for single-family homes and small multi-family.
We strove for a solution that solved for the labor shortage by using far fewer builders onsite for a lot less time. We wanted to honor homebuilder careers on site and not turn these careers into lower hourly-wage jobs in a factory far away. We envisioned creating a solution that revolutionized the conventional Design-Build process end-to-end, from design through to certificate of occupancy.
Our Name
Shibusa (渋さ) is a Japanese aesthetic that embodies simplicity, practicality, and quiet elegance. These principles guide everything we build. Our system supports teams from concept to completion, streamlining every step of the design-build process. By reducing complexity where it doesn’t add value and investing deeply where it does, we deliver homes that are healthy, resilient, and timeless by design.
